Caring for Those Most in Need
As the number of active Covid-19 cases continues to rise here in Cambodia, we are continuing to do the most we can to care for the impoverished communities we serve. Last week, we held our second big outreach as part of our relief efforts. Hundreds of men, women and children who have been impacted most by this pandemic were shown the love of Jesus as we provided them with life-sustaining resources.
More than 5,500 KG (12,100 lbs.) of rice, 1,650 bottles with half soy sauce and half fish sauce, and 1,650 toothbrushes and toothpaste were distributed to 275 families struggling to meet their basic living needs. Crutches and walkers from the latest medical containers we imported were also provided to disabled Cambodians and amputees to help improve their quality of life.
We are continuing our efforts to provide resources for clean water and sanitation throughout rural, impoverished communities and have already drilled 49 fresh water wells just this year.
More than 50,000 Cambodians have received access to clean water thanks to the fresh water wells built by Rock Foundation Cambodia. This is particularly important work at this time in our history since good hygiene is more important than ever.
Next month, we are planning to ship another container of medical supplies and equipment from the U.S. to Cambodia. This will be the eighth medical container imported by our ministry with each holding about $400,000 worth of medical supplies used to help those who otherwise would not receive the medical care they need. Although this project has been delayed by the pandemic, we are hoping to send more containers as restrictions continue to be lifted in the U.S. and around the world.
We encourage you to connect with us on Facebook to stay up-to-date on the latest ways our ministry is impacting life for the poorest of the poor here in Cambodia. As always, thank you for your continued prayers, encouragement and support!
