Covid-19 cases and pandemic-related deaths have grown exponentially in Cambodia in recent months. Current stringent regulations have limited the normal food distribution efforts of Rock Foundation Cambodia (RFC), so we’re tremendously grateful for a recent food outreach we were able to host in partnership with a local church.
Recently, the Cambodian government has imposed severe restrictions in response to the spike in Covid-19 cases. Travel between provinces is very restricted at this time, public gatherings are disallowed, schools are closed, and businesses are allowed to operate at only 10% capacity.
Our Founder and Executive Director, Brett Medlin, worked with government contacts in Cambodia and a local church RFC has been supporting for more than a year to distribute food.
We were able to give away 18,000 pounds of rice, 400 cases of noodles, 900 bottles of soy sauce, 900 bottles of fish sauce, and 3000 cans of fish… all in just the past few weeks.
This local church had recently given away some of their own food to help families facing desperate hunger when RFC gave them the news that, through the church, they would be able to benefit 420 families with this large food distribution.
“Praise and thanks be to our Lord Jesus Christ. I was so moved and excited to see what the Lord has done,” one church member said.
