Community Outreach Provides Food for 250 Impoverished Families

We’re overjoyed to share that, recently, we successfully gave away rice, noodles and fish to 250 families during our most recent community outreach event. To remain in accordance with local COVID-19 safety guidelines, we split up the event into two sessions.

The number of food parcels given away in 2021 has shattered our previous years’ records. To respond to the demand resulting from pandemic-related job loss, we put a high priority on feeding the poorest of the poor this year.

These families in Kampong Thom Province received a total of 11,000 pounds of rice, 7,500 packs of noodles, and 2,500 cans of fish.

His Excellency Som Sun — a two-star general of the province — partnered with us in this food outreach. The following day, we sat down with him and his team to discuss the possibility of drilling water wells in this province. With governmental cooperation, installing a clean water well in Kampong Thom would be a first for us in this province.

Since Rock Foundation Cambodia (RFC) was founded in 2011, we’ve distributed over 68 tons of rice through our community outreaches.

We plan to host an additional food distribution in time for Christmas, and you can be a part of it! To support this outreach, consider donating on or before Giving Tuesday, November 30. Your gift will help provide the funds to provide a 44-pound bag of rice to a Cambodian family in desperate need. Simply visit our Giving Tuesday page and select “Christmas Fundraiser” from the designation drop-down menu.
