Healing in the Name of Jesus: Help Us Cover Urgent Medical Needs for Srey Nuth

At Rock Foundation Cambodia, much of our focus is providing clean water and the hope of Christ to children across rural Cambodia. While water wells are the heart of our ministry, every now and then, God will place someone special in our path with an urgent need.

Meet Srey Nuth.

Srey Nuth, who is only 9 years old and in third grade, was coming home from school around 5 p.m. on November 19, 2025, with her father. They were stopped at a red light when a large cement truck hit them from behind. While her father sustained injuries, he has recovered much more easily than Srey Nuth. For over 6 months, she has experienced great pain and adversity from a broken femur and subsequent bone infection.

Since the accident, Srey Nuth has undergone five surgeries (one that she is still being hospitalized for) which did the following:

    • Removed the damaged skin and cleaned the infected bone area
    • Inserted a metal plate and screws to hold the femur bone together
    • Took a skin graft from her left leg and placed it on the right leg to cover the damage from the infection
    • Surgically opened the infected leg in order to drain out all of the infection
    • Removed the metal plate and screws (she is currently remaining under the care and observation of medical staff for the next few weeks)

While no more surgeries are planned at this point, Srey Nuth still has a long road to recovery. She has to visit the hospital every two weeks, where the doctors conduct a scan of her left leg, check the femur site with the metal plate and protruding screws, and administer medicine every two months. At this point, the doctors cannot give an estimated timeline for a complete recovery, or even how long it will be before she can walk without crutches.

Srey Nuth started physical therapy at the hospital, and the doctors encouraged her to complete it once a day at home. Her mother helps her with the physical therapy when she isn’t collecting recyclables from the city garbage dump. She is slowly learning to do the physical therapy by herself.

She lost a significant amount of weight while in the hospital. In order to support her recovery, she will need to eat a lot of nourishing food that is rich in protein (meat, eggs, fish, milk, etc.)

Since it is very difficult for her to stand, sit, or even use the restroom, Srey Nuth has missed almost an entire school year. Our team will be following up with her teacher at school to see if there is a way she can start studying from home in the meantime.

Coming from a background of deep poverty, Srey Nuth’s story is one of incredible pain and hardship—but also the sustaining grace and resilience of Christ in her life.

Our team at RFC is committed to coming alongside Srey Nuth and helping her to experience complete healing from our Great Physician. Would you prayerfully consider donating to Srey Nuth’s urgent ongoing medical expenses? Initially, our goal is to raise at least $2,500 to go towards her continuing hospital visits, physical therapy, and lots of nourishing food to help her recover. Every dollar helps Srey Nuth make a complete recovery and ensures she returns to school as soon as possible!

We are thankful for your ongoing prayers, support, and partnership in our mission. It is thanks to your generosity that we are able to faithfully fulfill our calling to bring hope and healing to Cambodia in the name of Jesus. Your support makes an eternal difference in the lives of little ones like Srey Nuth!
